Reaction to the new season of Homeland has been divided, but if there's one thing its audience agrees on, it's that these first two episodes have suffered from Critical Dana Overload, focusing on Brody's teenage daughter to the detriment of its better, more layered characters. While it could've been compelling to show the ripple effect of Brody's newfound infamy, the emphasis on Dana's suicide attempt, unfortunately, has felt more like dramatic suicide for one of TV's top shows. Twitter was nearly unanimous in its anti-Dana sentiment; bathe in the sweet, sweet vitriol after the jump.
Memo to Homeland. Another Dana love scene and I'm out. Another episode that focuses on Dana I'm out. Clean it up. #homeland- David Portnoy (@stoolpresidente) October 7, 2013

AV Club's Todd VanDerWerff sounded a rare dissenting note:
Liked tonight's Homeland more than the premiere. Your feelings may differ, depending on how you feel about Dana Brody's continued existence.- Todd VanDerWerff (@tvoti) October 7, 2013
But the response was still overwhelmingly negative:
What focus group told the Homeland writers that we care about Dana or Brody's family? Seriously, how does Showtime make this mistake?- Jason Whitlock (@WhitlockJason) October 7, 2013
Dear @SHO_Homeland, Kill off Dana Brody immediately. Love, Everyone- Drywall (@drywallsarcasm) October 7, 2013

If you pretend all of season 2 didnt exist, Dana didn't exist, and focus on Quinn, #Homeland would be a hit again. Brody might help too.- KFC, Kevin Clancy (@KFCBarstool) October 7, 2013
Terrorists detonate a nuclear device atop the Washington Monument. Dana burns the roof of her mouth on hot pizza. #Homeland- Next on Homeland (@NextHomeland) October 7, 2013
What did everyone else think of tonight's (this season's?) Dana-focus? Intriguing new direction? Waste of time? Just too Dana-y? Tell us below.
