The relationship portmanteau "MayWard" was introduced to the internet last night after "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." came to a supposedly sexy end. The episode known as "The Well" had its fair share of Thor references and allusions to Agent Ward's childhood, but it was the last scene that really got the nerds tweeting.

We've always known Ward to be a bit of a curmudgeon. But when he grasped the Berserker Staff, a wave of anger took over most of his personality. That's where Agent May comes in. She certainly doesn't talk much, or smile, or laugh -- like, ever. Despite her lack of words, she can dish out some pretty good advice.

After defeating a Norse paganist hate group with the fully reunited Asgardian staff, May offers to teach her fellow Level 7 colleague how to deal with uncontrollable inner rage. You see, May's seen all types of crazy stuff at this point in her life. So having some alien magic course through her veins ain't nothin' at all.

OK, so on to the last scene -- May and Ward are checking into their rooms at an Irish hotel. They are both battered and bruised from their afternoon battles. Ward looks over at May, she's got her door ajar. You can see her standing there, holding a bottle of Jameson. Ward goes to her room and shuts the door.

We're pretty sure that a hookup is about to happen. And if it did, what are the implications of said government employees gettin' it on?

Well, for starters, Ward might get soft. This is a bad thing. Many fans of the show have criticized him for being too one dimensional. But in reality, he's usually the only S.H.I.E.L.D. agent keeping his team from utter destruction. He's as super as humans come.

Secondly, Coulson might get jealous and that would be bad for business. We assume that Coulson and May have an interesting past. If the younger Ward were to get between them, it could complicate the chain of command.

Skye on the other hand, might end up feeling betrayed if she found out about May and Ward's midnight tryst. She's totally got a thing for her S.O., and he definitely has some feelings in return.

What do you think of Agent May and Agent Ward's affair? Did they just stay up to drink and talk? Or did the shields come all the way off? Let us know in the comment below!
